Dear Editor,
Many thanks for the comments of Drs. Hemvani and Chitnis from Indore on our above paper by Malhotra et al. The information provided by them about the trends of drug resistance in earlier treated tuberculosis patients is valuable. Some of their findings resemble the trends observed in our study. Their observations on the resistance patterns to other drugs like streptomycin, kanamycin, ethabutol, pyrazinamide and quinolones confirm that the situation is alarming. We could not cite these interesting findings as possibly we had already prepared / submitted the manuscript when their paper was still under print. We share their views and agree with the interpretation of the data.
