"Microbiology for Nurses" has completed 10 years of overwhelming support from its readers since it was first published in 2002. The 3 rd edition of the book is revised as per requirement of the constantly changing knowledge and information in the field. Each chapter in the current edition opens with learning objectives chapter outline and closes with Revision questions and "Things to remember." The format will be very useful for students and teacher alike.

As in the earlier editions, the book provides basic knowledge and emphasis on why a nurse must study microbiology. The text book includes all aspect of microbiology, such as bacteriology, parasitology, immunology, virology, and entomology that affect human health. The chapter of entomology is now suitably renamed as Vectors and Disease. Immunology has been revised thoroughly. It is divided into eight chapters. The chapter on prevention of infection by immunization is noteworthy. The chapter on collection of samples needs review in future.

This current edition updates readers on "Patient Safety." There are several text books available for nurses. However, it is felt that this one takes utmost care to address and deal with all essential elements of nursing practice at all levels of nursing profession. Lucid language for easy comprehension, extensive illustrations, and colored photographs points at author's sincerity to the book.
